Trained trainers training.

About the event

The train the trainer course has so much good stuff in it. This is an opportunity for people to revisit some of it, now that they have experience of training. It may also me an opportunity to reflect on and share our experiences of training and so learn and improve the training we give.

Programme

No fixed programme has yet been set. The intention is that the training provider will determine the programme for the day, based on what people express during registration and at the start of the day. Therefore, it is a good idea to have a think about what you want to get out of the day. Feel free to use the talk page to make suggestions and discuss ideas. The training provider usual programme covers the following:

  • Making training more memorable
  • Sharing personal experiences of what has worked when training and what hasn't
  • Balancing communicating information and developing skills
  • The impact of personal training styles
  • The role of constructive feedback
  • Unique challenges and opportunities of computer-based learning

Attendees

You do not need to sign up below. This event is open to volunteers for WMUK who have already been on the Train the Trainers course and Katie should have been in touch.

However, if you have signed up through Katie and Eventbright, you may wish to note your attendance below, so that other attendees know who to expect.

Thanks to all of you for giving up your saturdays and the great work you have been doing as Trainers. I am sure Katie will make sure you are properly fed and watered.Jon Davies (WMUK) (talk) 08:25, 27 June 2014 (BST)

Post-training meet-up

It has been suggested that some kind of meet-up of trained trainers after this training would be a good idea. It would take advantage of having so many trained trainers together in one place. This could be on the Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Please note below if you are interested in this idea, when you think would be a good time, location etc.

  • Happy with either Sunday morning or Saturday evening. Currently thinking dinner and a few drinks on Saturday evening makes most sense. Anyone got a suggestion for a venue? Yaris678 (talk) 15:02, 27 May 2014 (BST)
  • Agreed, Saturday evening makes most sense. Edwardx (talk) 21:59, 2 June 2014 (BST)
  • Saturday evening would avoid the cost of a night's stay in London, so works for me. However my last train to Brum would leave Euston at 21:43, so that wouldn't leave much time for food & drinks after the event unless we stayed close to Old Street / Euston. I quite like the Italian place near the Office - anybody else? --RexxS (talk) 00:25, 4 June 2014 (BST)
  • I would like to attend the meet-up. I could do Saturday. -Thoughtfortheday (talk) 01:16, 26 June 2014 (BST)
  • I'd be interested in dropping by after the refresher course and the conference I'm attending on the Saturday might finish in time. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 16:24, 9 June 2014 (BST)
  • Could do Saturday, but not Sunday. John B
  • Saturday evening looks best to me, but I'm around on Sunday too. Harry Mitchell (talk) 12:06, 22 June 2014 (BST)
Apologies
  • I was planning on travelling back home straight after the training. I've already booked the train (non-flexible ticket, I'm not sure if I can change it). So, I probably won't be able to make it, unfortunately. Bazonka (talk) 21:42, 2 June 2014 (BST)
