Discussion

  • We don't currently have a 'Donor's newsletter' - should this be included in the policy at this point? Mike Peel (talk) 20:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
A newsletter is currently in the works so the policy doesn't need to be amended on that point. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 14:52, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
In fact the first one has just gone out and will now be quarterly.Jon Davies (WMUK) (talk) 17:36, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Interesting. Please could you point me towards a copy of it? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 17:52, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Verification of identity, 'and any additional length of time as may be required by UK law.' should specify the length of time and the relevant law. Mike Peel (talk) 20:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
The law has a tendency to change, so we have no way of knowing what will be required by UK law by the time someone leaves. --Tango (talk) 12:05, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
A footnote or similar to point towards the current law would be useful, at least, so that the information can easily be found by those looking at this page. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 17:52, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Equal Opportunities - should specify what monitoring takes place, and should make clear that the information provided for monitoring is kept separate from the information shared with the panel. Mike Peel (talk) 20:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
This means Gender, ethnicity and disability. DO we need to spell it out? Jon Davies (WMUK) (talk) 17:36, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
There does need to be more detail here. "WMUK monitors its recruitment processes" currently ends rather abruptly; it should conclude with something like 'by gathering information on these factors, which is analysed statistically and is not shared with the interview panel.' (with more detail and better phrasing than that, though.) Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 17:52, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
  • The grid set out in the policy rules out using agencies for most staff posts. We might not normally do so but I think we'd want to do so if the need arose...? The Land (talk) 21:00, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
This should be a possibility - will amend to offer this. Jon Davies (WMUK) (talk) 17:36, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Interns

For intern and temporary contracts a CV, monitoring form and supporting letter will be considered acceptable.

appears to contradict

All applicants for employment, including interns, will be required to complete an application form ...

Brilliant spot Katy - and to be honest cannot remember where we left it. My instinct is to get people to use the forms - that way we have a fairer system and get equal ops details.

I think I will amend the document and see if anyone disgarees!Jon Davies (WMUK) (talk) 10:20, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
