Thank you pages

Thank you for the careful explanation on the 2011 Fundraiser/translation page. There are 2 'thank you' pages posted for translation at meta; "Thank you mail" and "Thank you page". Can I check that both of these are not going to be available when donating in the UK? If so, these will be of very low priority for translation. Lloffiwr 22:39, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Yes, this is the case - neither of those messages applied in the UK. If the processes we are using in the UK permit us to define thankyou pages or emails based on language (and they currentl do not) I'll post the material we are using for translation. The Land 11:05, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
That's OK. Lloffiwr 11:28, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Links from English appeals

You mention that you may make the appeal translations available by links from the English Wikipedia. Whilst this may have a certain novelty value, personally I would prefer to read the (in many cases) original English appeals when navigating to them from the English Wikipedia. As far as I'm concerned the main value of translating the fundraiser is that the integrity of the Welsh Wikipedia as a Welsh language reference work is maintained, with as little language switching as possible. Nevertheless, others might have a different view on this. Lloffiwr 22:39, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Lloffiwr - what I have in mind is that if someone clicks on an banner on the English Wikipedia, they go to the English-language landing page. But on that landing page is a (small) link to a landing page in Welsh (or other languages available). So people using the English Wikipedia in the UK whose first or preferred language is different can at least access an appeal in another language, without changing Wikipedias. I am not sure it will result in an more donations but I hope it would be useful to at least some people. Does that make more sense...? The Land 11:02, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
I wish you well with this idea. I can't say that I'm getting very excited about it myself - but that may not be true of others, of course. Lloffiwr 11:48, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Donation interface translations at translatewiki.net

Am I right in thinking that the Wikimedia UK fundraiser uses very little, if any, of the donation interface messages which are localised at translatewiki.net? So I don't have to treat the new messages as a priority? Lloffiwr 10:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Technical hitches

the translated fundraiser landing page has appeared on CYWP. It is here https://donate.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:FundraiserLandingPage?uselang=cy&country=GB&template=Lp-layout-default&appeal=Appeal-Brandon&form-countryspecific=Form-countryspecific-control&utm_medium=sitenotice&utm_source=B11_Donate_Brandon_Control&utm_campaign=C11_1107

unfortunately the three links: contributing monthly, other ways to give and frequently asked questions currently lead to blank pages. Am not sure whether this is the right place to report this or over on meta. Please advise me. Lloffiwr 00:10, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

So far, so good

Nearly there I think. Comparing the English and Welsh versions of the landing page, I note that you haven't yet added the 'Where your donation goes' inset in Welsh. This is translated in the core messages on meta. Lloffiwr 19:55, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Bruno Linhares letter posted - all fundraising pages, banners, etc now in English

Oops! Everything on the fundraiser has reverted to English, since the Bruno Linhares letter has appeared. This is not available for translation. Could you arrange to use the Welsh interface even though the letter is in English? Also, the banner is the same as for round 1 banners number 5. Please fix the banner as soon as possible. Back to normal now - thanks. Lloffiwr 09:17, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
