Trainee information

The aim of the event was to keep the Monmouthpedia project active and to ensure local residents and businesses can continue to engage and promote the project positively in the area.

The course was run by experienced Wikipedians who provided all the necessary instruction to get the participants going. The workshop agenda followed the points below:

  • Basics of Editing
  • User space: user page; talk page; sandbox; edit summaries
  • Practical work - 1-on-1 and small group work
  • Sources, referencing, WP:V
  • Practical work - 1-on-1 and small group work

Participants

8 people attended (incl 3 women), all newcomers to Wikipedia editing, although some with a background knowledge of the Monmouthpedia project. Most of the names are below.

A good understanding of how Wikipedia works and it's rules aournd notability and referencing was achieved. All users went away confident in making basic edits to articles and were enthusiastic to be involved.
